I bought a new farm a few weks ago and along with it came a MM 4 star tractor (propane powered) and all the equipment. I just finished plowing, and planting with it and the super c I"ve had and I was pretty impressed with it! I did have to constantly fix leaks, fix the generator, replace the regulator, and replace the battery and positive (ground) cable. In checking all the fluids on it I got to wondering. I pulled the plug out of the right rear side ( it looked like the level plug) anyway, what came out looked more like gear oil than trans hyd fluid. Is that right????
It has a TA and hydraulics with no seperate resovoir that I can tell. Someone please tell me what I am sopposed to put in it and where!

When the man who previously owned this farm had his estate sale someone walked off with the owners and shop manual for the tractor so I"m kinda stuck on this. Where do I get new ones???

One other thing the steering unit ( the one the shaft goes in to) is wobbling all over where the shaft goes in. I am pretty sure that"s not normal. Although I haven"t ever worked on an MM before I was a tractor mechanic for quite a while. It is power steering. What is the part worn out usually when the end of the steering shaft wobbles around and anyone know where I can get one??? It works fine but I am a little nervous about it. Thanks, Dan

That plug-should be on right side, below the foot platform, if we talk about the same one. that compartment should have 90wt gear oil in it. It also lubes the TA. There's a separate level plug for the TA,toward the front but won't show any unless its been run a while. To fill-should be a big pipe plug on the gear shifter housing/cover. it'll either have a hex or a 3/4" square.

To fill the lift (origanally called for type 's' hydraulic fluid. I use Dextron 3, lots of people use Hytrans so it will work with their other equipment.) Some fill through a street elbow on the front of the control valve housing (it comes out of the valve, turns up and has a pipe plug in it.) Others fill by removing the 4 bolts in the plate the rate and cycle levers go in. fill to about 1-1/4" from the top.
