Tyler, someone will correct me if I'm wrong-
That was an XT-Basically, an experimental R with revised front end and axles. An article (Antique Power?) said it had drum brakes instead of disks, and also some internal engine differences. It also suggested that the fabricated axle housings (They're square weldments) were somewhat failure prone. In fact, that tractor has triangle gussets that were added to stiffen the housings. I think it was built before WW2 and left on the farm where it was tested when MM converted operations to the war effort. There is also another R-like prototype in existance, it uses a radiator shell similar to a ZA, but not identical. It also has an extended length front pedestal. Both tractors are still in existence. I've seen pictures of both in restored condition. I also saw an experimental tractor with a Z engine at McConnelsburg PA 8-10 years ago. It would be great to know its history-it had an obvious prototype Z engine, but rear was channel, with a truck transmission and brakes were in the wheel hubs, as far as I could tell. The front was similar but not identical to a JT.
