Hello guys just purchased a 445 universal with wide front end, 3 pt. , torque, and power steering. Been sitting a long time didnt take much to get it going today everything works good on it except the throttle linkage is missing something where it goes through the dash down below the dash where the rod coming from the governor connects to the throttle lever there is (I would assume) something that is supposed to hold the throttle lever in position but mine is missin it because you move the hand throttle and nothing happens because under the gas tank where the linkage pieces come together just moves around i was wondering if someone had a picture of the linkage or if someone may have the piece im looking for thanks also i have a 5 star universl diesel i am parting out i was wondering if those fenders are the same ones as what is supposed to be on the 445? thanks

David,

I'm not sure from your description what is missing so I will describe what was originally supposed to be on the throttle lever.

Where the throttle comes through the dash, there is a hard steel bushing with a tapered hole in it.
A nylon bushing that fits into the above bushing is held to the throttle shaft with a small (I think 1/16") roll pin. On the throttle shaft, below the dash and bushings, there is a spring that won't fit through the hole in the steel bushing, then a washer. The spring is somewhat compressed and held there with anothe roll pin under the washer. This the friction between the nylon and the steel bushings is what holds the throttle in position when you mopve it. Near the lower end of the throttle shaft, there is a lever that is held to the throttle shaft by another roll pin. The throttle linkage from the governor connects to the other end of this lever. Finally, at the bottom of the throttle shaft, there is a bracket that the throttle shaft just sticks through & is mounted with one of the bolts that holds the steering column in place.

A common problem with the throttles on these tractors is that the roll pins break. Sometimes they are a bear to get out. Heating the pins or pieces of pinsd red & letting them cool usually makes it easier to get them out.

John

David, No the 5-star fenders are too big for it. The engine side panels won't work either. The 445 parts like what you are wanting would have to come off of a 4-star,jetstar,jetstarII,big mo 400. If how ever you would like to sell the 5-star engine side covers just drop me a line, my email is open.
