Hi all, i have a 445 with a 206 engine that i need to over haul. the crank looks pretty good, a small "rust" spot in the oil grove of one main, but nothing i think will hurt anything. the cylinder walls however, two have some deep pitting in them from setting (one set i could not use due to cracks) so i found this other block to use. i have been honing and honing to get rid of the rust pits, but when is enough enough? in a perfect world, there would be a nice smooth cylinder, but my world is not perfect, so just wanted some suggestions or ideas. one local "old timer" told me to hone as best i can and run it. said it wont turn high enough rps to bother anyway, but i"m afraid it will use oil, as the worst rust pitted area is higher then where the oil rings will travel.

1st: its your tractor.

2st: If its was mine and I'm worried enough to ask this question, I'd have the bore sleeved with a repair sleeve and re-bored to fit the piston.
Some shops don't want to touch it because the bores aren't supported at the bottom. BUT! This Has Been Done: one bore on the 206 I built for my Big MO 400 has a repair sleeve in it. You just have to find a shop willing to do it.
