I am trying to figure out the lifting apparatus for a Minneapolis Moline 2 row mounted corn planter. I am mounting it on a ZA, and have it attached to the attachment bracket, but am having trouble with the lift attachments. I have the lift arms for the rock shaft, but I think they are for the mechanical lift, cuz they seem too short. Are there rods that attach to the planter to lift it or is it lifted by chains? What keeps the planter from swinging back and forth when it isn't in the ground? A picture or drawing or any kind of help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the feed back Kelvin. In answer to your questions on the type of planter, it is mounted behind the tractor. I figured out the lift and installed it yesterday. It works fine. I had to build new lift arms and I have cross chains to keep it from swaying. I have to admit that I got the idea for the final mount from an Allis Chalmers with mounted 2 row planter. I think it will be just fine, and have it painted in it's original work clothes(original faded work paint). Thanks once again for the input.

This probably sounds dumb, but is your planter behind the rear wheels? MM offered a planter that mounts on the cultivator frame (ahead of the rear wheels) and also a planter that mounted on a toolbar-like affair behind the rear wheels.

Having a "parts" ZA with a hydraulic rockshaft and a running ZT with mechanical lift, the two shafts are in almost exactly the same place. The hydraulic rockshaft is larger, however.

One last thing: the mechanical lift on the ZT would just barely lift the cultivators out of the ground, (3"?) if it is set up to actually work. I have the shanks on mine adjusted high so I can get on a trailer.
