I just bought a 1957 335 and 1940 R. The little Rs were nice and gutsy little machines. I"ve seen a few abused to the point of insanity. The engine may not hold up like a model U, but it was a cool sideways valve design with many less parts. The improvement was the 335 that came in either Utility or Row Crop. Same size engine but over head valves. Much more modern like a Jubilee Ford and such. The Jet Star replaced the 335 with a better hydraulic set up and much more power with a longer engine stroke. Good machines as all MM are!

The only point if any that a 'red belly' may exceed a 335 in is in the 3-point. 335 3-points tend to leak down with a load on them, in my experience.
The 335 has live pto,and can be had with power steering. (although the 50 year old power steering can be troublesome.) The operator position is 4-5" higher, too.
