Hello I have a 1949 UTU tractor that I am trying to start. I can engage the starter (turn over the engine) by jumping the solenoid (with a screwdriver), but the ignition switch doesn"t work. I don"t know how to even start this beast properly. I assume you turn the selector switch to the "start" position and push in on the pushbutton. Nothing happens. This tractor worked two years ago. Also, this tracotr was converted to 12 volts many years ago. All the wiring looks ok. I took off the plate that holds the selector switch/pushbutton/and ammeter. ALl the wires are attached. Assuming the pushbutton is bad, where can I find one? Thank for any help. Knowledge is power!

Take the pushbutton apart CAREFULLY and see if the contacts are dirty. Maybe the same needs to be done with the selector switch. I experienced
a very similar thing with my tractor.
