I am comsidering buying a MM G 900 Diesel but the pto won't shut off when disengaged. I was wondering if any one might know what the problem could be,and if parts are still available?

Have you tried pulling back on the pto lever?
The brake band pulls tighter when you disengage the pto and pull back on the lever. If it doesnt stop, either the brake band is out of adjustment or the clutch plates are warped. To repair either you need to remove the hydraulic unit. To check if it is the brake or warped plates, with the tractor not running, you can set a pipe wrench on the pto shaft and rest it against the drawbar, with the pto disenaged start the tractor. If the engine labors against the wrench its the plates, if it runs fine chance are it is the brake. DO NOT HOLD THE WRENCH BY HAND!!!! The pto turns all the time on my 900 as well, but when it is on the stalk chopper there is enough resistance to keep it from turning.

The first MM's with live PTO had no brake on them. They would not stop unless they had a load on them. I think the 900 did have a brake but you have to lift the hyd lift up to adjust it. I'm guessing that's all it needs.
