RTU Clutch

I need to adjust the clutch on my RTU. The book says to push the button in and turn the ring. Is there a secret to getting the button to "Push" in? Mine won't move. I've soaked it with PB Blaster for a week and it still won't move. Any suggestions?

Well split the RTU today. Got the button to loosen up on the clutch. Turns out that was a minor problem. The clutch is missing the wheels that go on the three fingers and the pressure plate has a crack in it 2/3 across the face. I guess it's time to find a clutch for the RTU. Anybody have a good source for clutches? (cheap) If this tractor was a horse you'd say it was rode hard and put up wet.

I may have a used one out of a junk, have to look. Where are you? I sold some frontend parts to a guy in ND, parts, $20, shipping, $25, so sometimes it doesn't pay to try to ship. [email protected]

I had the same trouble with clutch adjustment button in my R. Soaked it, soaked it some more, soaked it again, never would come unstuck so I smacked it with a big hammer. Once I got it to move it freed up without much more work.

Oh yeah, I had it out of the tractor when I smacked it with the big hammer. I'm not sure what it would take to get one loose if it was still in the tractor.

A 3ft crowbar did the trick last time-in the tractor. Hope this helps:

The clutch is in the tractor. I just put a new plate in and if I had read the manual FIRST I could have lossened it up. Oh well hind sight is 20/20. I took a big punch and a 5lb sledge, but it still didn't come lose. I'll let it soak for the rest of the week and then try a 3' wrecking bar.

IT would probably be faster to just go ahead and split the tractor and fix it easier and probably quicker in the long run.

A 5# hammer wouldn't move it? Now that I think about it, it might be better to split the tractor to free that button up, rather than have to split it to fix something busted in there.
