In an earlier post about my stubborn ZTU not wanting to run I received many responses. All were very helpful in getting it back to 100%.The last post said that it would be "growling all over creation" and growling it is. Many thanks to ALL of the great MM folks out there. I'll give you the problems and solution in a nutshell. Previous owner spent much time and quite a bit of money trying to get it going. He couldn't and sold me his headache. It was quite a job, the jet inside the carb was hopelessly damaged, don't know how it happened. The float was also out of adjustment and the needle valve had a groove worn in it so it wouldn't seal. The points were gapped way to wide. The previous owner put on modern carbon spark plug wires, bad idea as they couldn't handle the voltage of a mag. The mags condensor was weak and the major problem, the exhaust valves were adjusted way too tight. No wonder it didn't want to run! Thanks for helping!
