RTU Rim

I took a rear tire off of my 1950 RTU and there stamped in the steel were the words GOODYEAR W9-34 Made in USA 1-50 I understand that the 34 is the tire size and the rim was made in Jan. of 1950. What I was wondering was did Goodyear make rims or was this just a recomendation on which tires to use?

I don't know. Just painted a rim that said Firestone on it.
