Almost done restoring my Z now suddenly I'm getting bubbles in radiator. Someone else started the restoration then the tractor set for years so I didn't do engine. Where am I most likely getting compression leak? There is a little seepage around cylinder to block connection but doesn't seem like there would be pressure there. How about head gasket is that more likely? I mention tractor sitting because other gaskets seem to have dried and shrunk and I find myself redoing everthing the previous owner had done. Thanks in advance for suggestions

Steve,
If the previous owner forgot to tighten the cylinder head to the blocks before tightening the blocks to the crankcase then there's a good chance the head gaskets are not sealing. If this step wasn't done then the head is not sealing flat to both blocks. I also like to put a small amount of silicone sealer around the water ports on the head gaskets to be sure they seal well.

about the only place you can get combustion pressure in the water-other than through a crack in the block or head- in those engines is through the head gasket.
