First, all R's had disk brakes. Early R's had 1 disk on each side. these were clamped by a "pressure plate" affair to the transmission case when applied. They can be distinguished by the 3 adjusting bolt assemblies around the axle housing. As far as I know, all these had 6 spline axles. They also had brake pedals that extended directly toward the front, then curled back upward-(kinda like those on an old car with pedals under the floorboards) Late R's had two identical disks on each side. they were applied by an actuator between them that spread apart, pressing one against the transmission case, and pressing the other against a machined surface in the axle housing. These do not have the adjusting bolts around the axle housing. As far as I know, all these had straight brake pedals that extended up at an angle. These late style brakes came in at least 2 styles: early disks still fit the 6 spline axle, later disks fit an axle with many more splines. As far as I know, the same lining kit fits either one. It only makes a difference if you are getting comlete brake disks. I'm thinking that your tractor should have the early single disk brakes, but with this info, you should be able to make sure.
