Shot myself in the foot again, put a new clutch, pressureplate, t/o brg, resurfaced the flywheel. Found a broken arm on the old pressure plate, figured that was why I couldn't shift it. Put it back together, when the clutch is pushed, it has a SLIGHT hesitation like when the amplitorque is pulled back, then keeps going. If I use the brakes, I can kill the engine with the clutch pedal depressed. Anyone have an idea of what to look for next?

The book I've got for the Big Mo 500 says to lay a straight edge against the back of the pressure plate housing, and adjust the fingers 5/8" - 11/16" from the straight edge. It also says the fingers must be within .015" of each other..

Yep... did you adjust the fingers on the pressure plate to the proper setting....

I screwed up on my JetStar 3 when I put in a new friction disk..I resurfaced my pressure plate, etc. Before I put it back together..I forgot to check and adjust the fingers on the pressure plate..therefore, when I pushed the clutch pedal in. I did not have enough throw of the pedal to disengage the clutch. I could not even put the tractor into a gear.

I ended up splitting the tractor back apart and adjusting the fingers on the pressure plate all the way out to get the proper release and make the proper throw to disengage the clutch.

Works fine now.. It is probably what your problem is too..look in your service manual. IF you have an IT manual, the adjustment is just a "figure picture" on one of the pages.. it does not mention doing this in the text.

Thanks Phil, I'll look at that manual.
