I am going to look at a 5000# MM Forklift tomorrow. It has pneumatic tires, auto trans, side shift, lp fuel engine, and is still in use. Does anyone know anything about these? Were they reliable, parts still available for drive train or any other concerns that I should have? I am assuming until I see it that it may be a model "MY50". It is not new enough to have the continental engine that the last ones had I am told. Any info on this machine would be helpful. Oh, BTW what is something like this worth?? Has anyone ever seen any printed material (operators, service, parts, or sales) for the numerous forklifts that MM made?

I'm pretty sure engine parts are available. I've got an engine out of a MY 40 that's basically the same as in a U302. The Lp carburetor is not the same as a tractor, though. I think this carb runs only on vapor, tractors switch over to liquid to get more power when they're warm.

I haven't seen much information on forklifts. I've watched 'moline' on Ebay for 3 years now, probably could count the number of forklift manuals I've seen on one hand.

I speculate that the transmission in the manual transmission models was made by Clark, don't know. I'm going mainly on the shift pattern as it was described to me once. Its just like the Clark Forklift I drove hauling trash about 20 years ago.

You might find out more about forklifts from Balcom Implement 1-800-658-2309, Or Wendell Everett 740-922-3335.
