How much bronze paint was used on 1954 zb? I'am now restoring a zb and have sand blasted a lot of bronze paint off under the parie gold. was this an after thought by the factory or did this tractor come from the factory this way?

I expect what you are seeing is the primer under the prairie gold.

It sure looks like bronze paint but it is not everywhere just on the transmission and brakedrums
none on the sheet metal or engine.

Its most likely a red oxide primer. If you look inside the brake housings (your ZB really has disk brakes, doesn't it?) you'll probably see a good coat if it. It was probably painted inside the transmission, too.

No it's not red primer and you are right it does have disk brakes and inside the housings there is red primer. This is bronze paint I thought possiably some previous owner might have done this But this was under the steering colume as well. also the centers of the rims have a cockshutt look with the eight spoked attachments instead of the pressed wheels. I know I have a basket case.
