I am wondering if a PTO can be installed on a wheatland G 1000 that did not come factory. I know some other tractors can have this done and some not. If it is posiable would it be very hard to do and is it very expensive. This information will help very much THANK YOU.

I am not an expert at this, but I helped do something simular to an Oliver Wheatland once. I would say yes, it is possible to put a PTO into a Wheatland tractor providing you have all the parts. The easiest way would be to find a tractor at a bone yard and take the necessary parts out to do the swap. I do think you will have to tear part of the rear end down in order to do this, probably have to pull the axles out and you may even have to split the tractor in half, depending on exactly how the G-1000 is set up in the rear end. It will be fairly labor intensive to do this conversion.

What I found helping with the one we did, is that it is possible, it is pricy to find all the parts, and it is labor intensive, but it can be done.

The other option we looked at was putting a hydraulic driven PTO on the tractor. If you were going to use the PTO for fairly light work you may be able to get by with a hydraulic PTO system instead of putting in an engine driven one. Now obviously you will not be able to run a corn chopper or a silage blower with one, but you should be able to run smaller impliments with a good hydraulic PTO unit. Just another thought.
