I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DISMANTLING A 445 TRACTOR AND HAVE SEPERATED THE REAR END FROM THE TRANNY AND AM TRYING TO REMOVE THE PTO CLUTCH, I HAVE LOCATED THE SET SCREW ON THE CLUTCH THAT HAS A COTTER PIN IN IT AND HAVE REMOVED THE COTTER PIN AND BACKED OUT THE SET SCREW AND STILL UNABLE TO REMOVE THE CLUTCH AND SHAFT, WHAT AM I NOT DOING?

You need to also remove the nut that threads onto the main shaft just in front of the clutch assembly. It is held in place by a lockwasher that is bent into a notch cut into the round nut.
There is a key in the shaft where the inner drive hub for the PTO fits the shaft. You will need to move the hub forward (not the outside cage) and remove the key. After removing these and the setscrew that had the cotterkey in it, you should be able to bump the shaft toward the rear of the tractor (I assume that the hyd pump has already been removed.) The shaft will move rather hard at first. The bearing races at the rear of the shaft must be moved rearward out of the case. hope this helps
