Pulling an R

I built a nice little R moline and it will be running this summer. How have some of you guys done when it comes to pulling an R? They are stubby and require some good balancing skills to pull well from what I see. Dry weight says 2700, but I think that is a huge stretch. I have also heard stressing those little trannys with high h.p. can have consequences. How do you guys like pulling your Rs? Stories? Thanks!!!

There are a couple 206 R's that pull 3000-3500 around here they do pretty good. It takes a long wieght bracket to hold the front ends down.

I have a 206H engine that I plan to bore to 220+ to put in my R and was wondering the same thing about too much hp for the tranny and rear end. Any more thoughts along this line?

I heard of a fella pulling a high h.p. 206 (maybe slightly larger haha). He pulled stone boat in 4500 class and split the tranny apart when it grunted down. Seriously I wanted to build a U302 220 engine model R, but I was hesitant. I've decided to do a different twist to pulling the 220 motor now. Not an R. We'll see if the idea works. It might be a couple years before I get to it.

I built an R with 3 3/4 inch bore and 5 inch stroke that puts out 55 hp and have had no problem running stock clutch and trans is fine.

Guy here in Oregon claims to have dynoed his R with 206 at 70 hp, always wins in 4000.
