hello----- - G1000 VISTA very hard starting, checked timing, rebuilt injectors with new coppers and seals, adjusted valves, checked head torque,new fuel filters, cleaned fuel lines etc.turns over fast and immediatly white smoke appears from exhaust, and I mean ALOT. a snort of ether and she will fire ,but you have to keep giving snorts until she runs , then it bucks and kicks and snorts and white smoke until she warms up and it takes awhile. pulled out energy cell caps and one was wet otherwise all seemed to be normal.any ideas to help? I have a G1050 that willstart immediatly and smooth right out, but I cannot get this one to do it thank you Ray

Ray your not going to like what I'm going to say. Got a 67 Vista with same problem. Sounds pretty good when hot, even put it on a dyno. Sounded real good there but didn't put out but 85HP. Rebuilt injectors, adjusted valves, new filters, same problem. Pump was rebuilt in 2001. Tractor was overhauled in 85 and has less than 1000 hrs on overhaul job. Pulled the #3 head off and was cracked between valve ports on both 5 & 6 cylinders. Hope this helps but hope its not your problem. Dale

Ray,
Sounds like low compression or a pump problem. How much power does it make once its warmed up? Does it seem to be one cylinder or all? Did you have your pump checked to see if its up to the job?

we had one doing the same thing when we bought it and found that when injector work was done they never removed the old sealing washers from ports in head. Some ports had several washers in them

BMG-- pump has not been checked out,neither has compression. once tractor gets running I checked energy cell caps for heat, they all seem to heat fairly eevenly, runing at almost full throttle at no load it seems to run a little rough, but put it on the manure pump at good load and smooths out and seems to have plenty of power. thanks

Original Vista cylinder heads did not use copper nozzle gaskets. They used a transite ring and a asbestos gasket on end of tip. Nozzle holder nuts should not be locknuts nor should you use lockwashers and torque only to 15 ft lbs. With the wrong gaskets and tightening proceedure you may be missing hole in energy cell.

I just had my injectors rebuilt and installed them yesterday on a 68 I've had since new. Was running rough but started with no either before. I could only find the remains of the asbestos tip washer and no transition washer in there anywhere. The surface on a couple was a little rough and maybe even pitted a bit where the washer should have been. Welters sent me copper ones but no room for them so installed with only the tip ones. It started right up but still ran rough at both ends but sounded great as throtte is pushed ahead fast. Tractor has no timing plate so can't check it but I turned the pump from the position it was 4 degrees right. Sounds purfect above 900 rpms and really has snuce but still idles rough. Anyone have any advice?

captainhookreus-- thanks for your reply, you are correct regarding transite washers and asbestos gaskets, these parts are no longer available, so my AGCO dealer sent these parts, they are the correct replacement parts. thanks ray
