I bought this tractor and I need some help with the wiring. The old wireing is shot, and I am trying to get it to start. It is positive ground so does that mean I run a hot wire off the negative side of the battery to the coil? Which side of the coil? Then the other side of the coil to the disturbator? The switches are bad, so can I just arc across the solenode? I want to make sure it runs before dumping a lot of money into it. Thanks for looking.

Hi, You should find yourself an operation & maintenance manual for a "ZA". It will have a wiring diagram plus it will answer practically everything thing you want to know. I believe reprints are readily available in the 20-30 dollar range. Brian (MN)

Yes it is positive ground. I think you have the right idea. Run a wire from battery negative to coil (opposite side from distribuitor, if no wires hook to coil +[Yeah, I know that seems backwards. .but it'll work]). You can also jump from hot side of solenoid to the start terminal.
If its that bad, you may have to file the points, too.
