ZA not running

I'm gathering ambition to begin restoring my grandfather's ZA. Right now, there's no spark. I had the coil tested, and it was fine. To keep things simple, is this a positive or negative ground setup?

Be sure not to neglect spark plug wires. Make sure you replace your wires with wire core. Never use carbon trace spark plug wires as they will not work.

I had this problem with mine. I bought it and it had little to no spark. You probably just need to clean the points and rotor and maybe install a new condensor. I replace the entire electrical system, minus distributor bottom, starter, lights, and things like that and it was under $60. Good luck.

A bad condensor will cause this as well.

Todd, It is positve ground and 6 volt. When tractors sit around a few years you'd be surprised at all the things that go bad. First I'd check the points, sometimes they will corrode, a little filing might clean them up. If not, start following the current around with a volt/ohm meter, check wires for breaks, connections,and switches, Sooner or later you'll get spark.
