I'm rebuilding the engine in my UB gas and need a crankshaft. According to the machine shop the old one is worn beyond repair. I have access to a good KE401 crank but the old one is a KE401B. Are they interchangeable? Thanks for any response.

Gary, My Bearing manual shows KE 401B 5" stroke LE 401 6 " stroke I dont list KE 401. KE 401B has 2.577-2.5775 rod journal the LE401 has 2.749-2.750 rod journal. Hope this helps Earl

BEFORE YOU GO ANY FATHER, CHECK THE STROKE ON THAT CRANK, SOUND'S LIKE A G CRANK INSTEAD OF A UB CRANK !!! MIGHT HAVE A 403 CRANK SHAFT IN I.
DOES IT HAVE TALL BLOCKS ON THE CRANKCASE !!!

THAT MIGHT BE A 6" STROKE !!!!

I don't know what a KE401 fits. My catalogs call for a KE401B for all U's and UB's with KEF and 403 engines.

OOps! I meant, 283 engines, not 403.
