Oil pump too tight?

I put my oil pump on my U302 last night, and it makes the engine very hard to turn. When I loosen the oil pump bolts the engine turns free again. Do I need another gasket for a spaceer, or will it loosen up on its own?

Also, my gasket kit did not come with seals for cam shaft bearing oil supply line. Did I get jipped, are these seperate?

I just overhauled a jetstar engine, which is very similar.

You need .001-.004 side clearance on the pump gears. I had to use 2 gaskets on mine, (Each gasket miked .004) the set only came with one. Fortunately I had one left over from a Z set that was the same. (The set should have had at least 2 of those gaskets) I had to re-use my old camshaft seals, too. I also didn't have enough 0-rings for the water passages in the heads and blocks.
Also, the oil supply tubes need O-rings on them where they go into the oil passage in the block, had to get some out of the assortment at NAPA.

Did your gasket set come from NAPA?

I got the set from Welters. It is an agco set.
