Moline hydraulic cylinder

I bought a MM U to farm 40 acres with and was told i would have to get a moline cylinder to use with it. We farmed with molines at home and always used moline cylinders. I know they had a valve in the cylinder. Does any one know of a way to use another brand of cylinder other than moline without the implement falling down? Can not find a moline cylinder anywhere close.

There are 2 for cylinders for sale on e-Bay right now. One is in Iowa, one is in Minnesota.

You could install a cross port, pilot operated check valve in the lines downstream from the original control valve. They will hold pressure in the cylinder while there's no pressure in the lines to it.

The moline valve was explained to me as a simple flow director.It had no (lands)or places in the valve to hold the pressure from the cylinder.It was like putting a regular valve in float.What I do is go to your local farm store and get a 1 or 2 spool hydraulic valve(WITH ADJUSTABLE RELIEF VALVE BUILT IN).I mount this valve in a convenient spot and then run the pressure line from the pump to the valve and run the return back to the tank where the pressure line used to hook up.I then run the remote coupler lines off of the new valve.I disconnect the original hydraulic lever from the tractor.I usually back off the relief adjustment and install a pressure guage in a remote and adjust the reief back to the factory spec.I have seen some guys mount the valve so that the original linkage runs the new valve.You now have a valve that will run any cylinder on your implements.If you get a 2 handle(spool)valve,you have 2 remotes.1 handle 1 remote and so on.Hope this helps.Thanks Moline

I have used Cross Hyd. Cylds. with U Molines. The feature of the MM cyld. was the check valves held the implement in the up or down position. I used them on drills for years, they hold the drill disks in the ground better. I don't think you will have any problems using something like a Cross or similar brand.
