I recently purchased an MM 97. The clutch gave out loading it onto the trailer. I was told it was the "shifter ring" that broke. From the MM-19 IT manual (page 64, Fig 167, part # 22) it looks like it comes in 2 half circle pieces. I was told it could be installed through the 4 bolt access plate on the side of the transmission without splitting the tractor. Does anyone have any experience at this??

The only thing you can change through the side plate is the two piece throw-out bearing. All the other clutch components have to be serviced by splitting the tractor. The side plate opening was used to grease bearing or to adjust clutch. Spitting is awkward and cluch parts are hard to find.

Do you know if the clutch components were manufactured by twin disc? I worked on a tc mta that had these components and they are still available.
