My old GB had alot of noise, more in road gear, I changed the gear lube because water came in the trans through the gearshift boot, I used GL1-140 wt. lube in it and it quieted down considerable amount. The gear lube comes out like peanutbutter and thats what was suppost to be in it, It works!

I just ordered the bearings, races, seals and wiper for my G from Welters in Verona, MO. They were cheaper than any body around where I live.

GOT MY SEALS AT THE LOCAL AGCO DEALER. OR YOU CAN CROSS REFERENCE LIKE BOB SAID, AS A MATTER OF FACT I THINK BOB'S WERE A DOLLAR OR TWO CHEAPER.
CK OUT THE MM SITE FOR A LIST OF PLACES TO CALL IF YOU DONT HAVE A PLACE CLOSE,

KELVIN IS RIGHT ON ABOUT THE WHINE! STRAIT CUT GEARS. MINE QUIETS DOWN UNDER A LOAD SOME, HAD LOTS OF FUN PULLING MOTOR HOMES OFF THE BEACH LAST SUMMER WHILE MAKING A FEW EXTRA $$ TO PUT BACK INTO THE TRACTOR.

THE GUY WHO RUNS THE LODGE DOWN THE LAKE A MILE HAS 9 GB'S THAT HE USES FOR LAUNCHING BOATS AND PULLING PEOPLE OUT OF THE SAND.

MINE IS NOT REAL FANCY BUT SHE RUNS LIKE A OLD RR WATCH AND THE YOUNG 4 WHEELERS STUCK UP TO THEIR AXELS THINK SHE IS BEAUTIFUL.

Jon - When I replaced bad brake shaft seals on my UTU, I discovered the original seals showed Chicago Rawhide part numbers. My local industrial bearing supplier crossed the CR numbers to National Seal equivalents. Price was about $10 apiece, and they had 'em in stock.

go to www.minneapolis-moline.com and start calling some of the people listed under 'parts suppliers'.

The lip type seal can probably be gotten from NAPA or a bearing supplier, if you can tell them the I.D. of the bore and O.D. of the shaft to the nearest thousandth of an inch.

yes, those transmissions can be pretty "whineified". All the gears are straight cut. Especially if its got a ton of hours on it or done lots of belt work in its lifetime.

Its the squeaks, grunts, and klunks that worry me most.
