I have a BI which is possibly about the same as a 445.It is a lot larger machine than my two 335's but the all have the same block number which is 10A6500.However I am sure the cranks are different for 335 than they are in the BI and 445. All of mine have the set screw starter fastener.

Not a 5-star for sure. They have in them 283's or 336d engines. 4-Stars, Jetstars and jetstar II, Big Mo 400, "not military". Also think brown mules as well but not for sure on that one.

is there anything i can do to the engine to get more power out of it? someone told me propane pistons would. power wise it was not that bad, but if i have to do machine work, i just as well do it all. will a jetstar 4 engine fit right in and bolt up?

Any 4star engine, Jetstar engine, or 445 engine, or similar 206 (overhead valve) power unit engine will fit, providing the crankcase uses the setscrew starter mount. Also, later Jetstar3, and U302 engines can work, if you use the correct flywheel and starter with 3-bolt mounting.
