What compression ratio would I have with stock ZA pistons and a 2648 LP head? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

The list I have shows 6.7-1, 2647 head would be 7.7-1

If that's all, What is the compression ration of the RE226C? with only 7.7-1, should run O.K. on regular gasoline.

Kelvin, the list I have shows the RE226C/206 being 6.1-1, They all run on modern gasoline really well, but they were built when tractor fuel was the cheapest fuel, all were designed to really pull on the really cheap fuel. I'm not an expert on this, but my understanding is, IF you use the C head, you will get the most lugging power out of the old motors, and if you use the 2648, you will lose some of the bottom end lug. Has something to do with the RPM, if allowed above stock, I think the 2648 would be the best. Be interested to hear from any of the guys who do this to win! Thanks, John

I have a 2647 and a C on two separate engines. They both seem to run about the same. Never really had any need to lug them much. Always ran out of traction. The C head engine is starting to get into the gov. more during the pull, but I think that may have something to do with the hours on the engine. those hours include lots of pulls. Some plowing. Some hay baling. And countless runs on the dyno. If you want to open some eyes next time you dyno at a show if you have the nerve to do it have them pull it down to 150 PTO RPM. Mine still chugs along making that sweet Moline music.
