There is an "R" engine oil hyd pump on ebay as well as the selective control for it.

The address for the pump is:

Hydraulic pumps of that type were used on 39 & early 40's R's. I have never seen tone of them on a Z. The one I have on a 39 R, has the valve built on the pump with a control quadrant near the steering wheel. Some of them allow operation of each side separately, others operate both sides together. They won't lift very much.

I've never seen one on a Z either but it seems like it would be possible to retrofit one if you had the right cam and side cover. I've got a 1945 RTU with the cam driven hydraulic pump. I'm not sure what year they stopped offering this pump on the R but my early 1949 RTU still has the access plate on the side cover.

I have a '50 ZAE. The Hydraulic pump is on the left side of the engine attatched to the housing behind the crankcase breather. The reservoir is below the gas tank with the lines going from the back of the pump up to the reservoir. I am not sure where you are seeing the crankcase oil, it should be hydraulic oil. Is it possible what you are seeing is oil blowback from the motor back out the breather element tube?

Hi
These guys are all right except Rick is talking about the later Uni-Matic system. The unit you have on the "R" was only made to lift the two row cultivator. Not for anything else.
