RTU pictures?

Bought a RTE "basket case" and I'm looking for some detailed pictures. Like how does the grill attach to the shroud. Close ups of both sides of the engine. It came with the optional hydraulic's but the pump is so bad I think I'll leave it off so where does the oil lines go? Thanks in advance.

The grille slides up in the cowl as far as it will go, then back down in a sheet metal bracket in the front. There should be a 5/16" bolt that clamps it in place. If its missing, no matter-The one on my ZTU has stayed put for years. Just having the grille is a plus-most around here have become separated from their tractors.
I'm guessing you are talking about the plunger pump that works off the cam. there was a block on my '49 RTU that was used as a tee-(I've actually seen just a pipe tee in the line where it comes out of the side cover on another R) I just took the line off that went to the pump and plugged that side of the block.

You could probably also plug the hole in the side cover and put a regular bolt in the top hole where the oil returns to the engine. If you do it this way, you might have to back the oil pressure down some, as you had a open hole in the oil circuit before.

There is a neat cast iron plate that covers that hole where the pump goes. It is also used on the crankcase of Z's and U's, if you end up looking for one.ZB's, UB's and very late UTS also use that same plate for the clutch inspection cover.

I took the shroud off and I can see where the clips are suppose to be on the top. None on the grill though, but it has stayed in place. I guess I'll just paint it and slide it back in. The pump is a Eaton pump with three lobes. Almost like an oil pump on a car. It runs on a gear off of the cam on the front of the engine. The pump is in pieces and Eaton has sold the rights to the pump and no longer services them. It looks like it is suppose to have a big bearing on the gear end that isn't there. There's a seperate oil tank and big hydraulic hoses coming off of the back side of the pump. Everything dealing with the hydraulic needs rebuilding. Some day, if I get ambitious, I might rebuild it and put it back on. It's a later model RTU and the manuals show earlier style pumps and not this one.

You have a '49 & up setup, then. It is the "uni-matic" system. Sorry, everything I told you doesn't apply.

The info on those pumps, hydraulic system, etc. was in a separate unimatic parts catalog. That pump was not very reliable, or wouldn't take much abuse, I guess- (although some are still around working)-MM offered a retrofit for a webster pump that used a different supply tube/manifold plate assembly.

to get by, you can just remove the pump. PLEASE don't bend up that steel tube,seems like everybody does. just remove the rubber sleeve at the reservoir, split it if you have to. Make a plate to cover the hole in the side cover. I ran a ZB I was/am working on for years with a pipe plug in the pressure port on the reservoir and a cork in the pump supply side of the manifold on the reservoir.

Everything was off of the tractor when I got it. So I'll just leave it off and "SOMEDAY" I'll look at putting it back on. Pump, cylinder, tank, arms, everything was off in a pile. So I'll just put a plate and gasket over the hole and go from there. Thanks for the help.
