slow loader on jet-star 3

Does anyone know if and how I could speed up the hydralics on my jet-star3? During the cold winter months when tilting the bucket, the whole loader has a tendancy to drop. This is quite aggravating--any help would be great!

Ed,
If your loader is drifting down when you are only operating the tilt lever, you have a problem in the control valve or the lever that operates the loader Up/Dn is not centered properly. The springs on the lever shaft are supposed to center the lever and hold it there unless you move it. The springs sometimes break. They can be replaced by "screwing" them on from the end. bolt on replacements are also available, I believe from Welters.

now that is has been mentioned, when moving one lever, the other one does move with it a bit. Are the springs for the levers inside the shaft that comes out the side of the hydro unit? or are they external?

The springs are external. They are torsion springs made of square stock. They sit between the levers and over a stud that is threaded into the cast lever housing directly below the lever shafts. The bottom of each lever has a tab that sickes out and sits between the two ends of the springs. When the lever is centered, both ends of the spring should be against both the tab on the lever and the stud below it. Sometimes the springs just get twisted & don't properly center the lever. Other times they simply break.

Unbolt whole loader, disconnect the lines, set out in driveway. Send me your address, I'll pick it up and you won't have those problems ever again!

Really, welcome to Tele-flo hydraulics, the mechanical wonder of the world. There are seals and adjustments in the valve unit, but most times you need to tear it down to get at and need to know what you are doing to make right. I found an old MM mechanic to rebuild one on my Jet Star and it works great. He thinks they are wonderful units, I'm not so sure. Seem too hard to work with for me. Guess I was NO help, but had to voice my opinion on this MM Wart!

I'll be happy to leave the loader for you if you would come over and move the snow!
I was wondering though, my neighbor has an 8n--could i use a crankshaft driven pump to run the loader, and use the factory hydraulics for only the 3pt.? any ideas?

There are pto pumps that would be easer to put on if you dont use the pto
