Hi,

I bought one at an auction a few weeks ago - I think mine was made in 1941 or 42. It is a pretty neat old machine...

It needs a tuneup, but runs, and came with the manual.

I'll try to post a picture pretty soon...

Howard H.

Hey-there is one in the photos on the MM website.
www.minneapolis-moline.com

There was also one sold on Ebay 2-3 years ago.

Somewhere I have seen a picture copied from sales literature that showed a sweeper with a ZA grille, however I have never seen a photo of the actual sweeper.

Does your sweeper look like a MM R coming from the front?

According to Brian Rukes Minneapolis Moline buyers guide, there is only 1 MM-Austin Westin street sweeper known to be in existance. This street sweeper looks like the front of a MM ZT with a single front wheel attached to a street sweeper rear end. I would be interested in seeing some pictures of this interesting machine, you can send them to my email address posted elsewhere in this posting.

I can say there is more than one out there. I personally saw one sell at an Indiana auction a couple years back and I've since heard of several more that have been found. I believe I've got a picture of it Tyler if you're interested - email me.

Goto www.minneapolis-moline.com and post there. Maybe Bryan Rukes can help identify if he sees the post. He put a book out on MM tractors and has done alot of research on them.

All I can say is you most likely have a rare piece of MM history as there are not many of those machines left in existence.

Not all Austin-Western street sweepers were the same, and there were more than just the versions that looked like "R"s and had the "Z"s engine (Model RE). And, yep, right after my book came out, we found out about at least two more of these sweepers, and I've heard of maybe a few more beyond that. They are still a pretty rare, very interesting item. And, yep, pics would certainly help identify what you've got.

The City of Burnside in South Australia owns an almost fully restored 1947-8 model A-W sweeper which it imported new in 1948. It is missing the seat, windscreen and a rebuilt gutter broom. Have pictures if of interest.

I'm interested in the pics of that sweeper. Sorry for the delay in responding; I don't get to check this messageboard that often.
