1. What is the Zenith carburetor number? Mine is unreadable. Is there a kit still available?

2. My carb has a lot of water damage. What should I soak it in to get the rust out?

Kelvin,
If you really want it to come out clean go to your autoparts store and pick up a gallon of carb dip. It comes in a metal gallon can and you submerge your parts in the solution. Follow the directions and your carb should come out looking like new. This will else help in cleaning out the varnish in all the small passages that aerosol carb clean will just not remove.

I used PB Blaster on may carb on my U and it worked great. I am sure any good lube and rust buster will work like Gibbs or Kerosol too. I know that carb kits are around and I have seen them just don't remember where right now???

Thanks guys, Just its not a Jetstar, its on a '37 JTU. The Waukesha engine has a Zenith Carburetor.

Carb cleaner works great for gum, varnish, etc. but I was thinking I needed something a little more potent for this amount of rust.

My operators manual says that the carb is a 1241/2-T.O. Zenith. I soaked my KTA carb in white vinager, but be careful,I ate the threads out of the first carb. You can also hang it in a pail of water from a wood dowl and a piece of wire. Hook up a battery charger and let it cook for a while. I have not tried this yet but am told it works.
