I need a rebuild kit or at least a needle and seat to fit the carb on a 1948 Minneapolis Moline ZTU.

I have found that there are two sizes of needle and seat that fit the 1948 Minneapolis Moline Z, I need the larger one.

The float chamber on my carb is square, others are round.
The model carb I have is a Marvel Schebler Model TR. The tag says "TRX-12 012"

I have tried all of the usual MM parts places, I know if I look hard enough something will turn up. Please help if you can.

Thanks

Jim

two thoughts:
1. A later style M/S needle & seat assy used to be available from Herschel Adams.

2. If your needle and seat is larger, could an adapter be made that would allow you to use the newer style of needle/seat assy?

There is no way to adapt, I tried for several days to make a later model needle and seat to work, but to no avail.
I have heard that the needle and seat from a Ford 800 is the one I need, I am checking into that possibility.
Thanks for your information.

The Ford 800/900 parts worked in my carb.

Jim,

If your tractor is a 1948 ZT then it should have the TSX-97 carb, as that was used starting in 1947 on the Z's. If you want to re-build your TRX-12 I can't imagine that repair kits and needle and seats aren't still available, there are a lot of these old Z's still around. The stock answer for carb problems on the old M-M's seems to be to contact Matt at Motec Engineering in Tipton, IN. He has a very good reputation. Hope this helps.
