Ready to re-assemble Big Mo 400 I have several books but they do not have a step by step if what to do first.I hate to get it back together and have forgotten something -small oil line or the likes-Any help out there-crank is still in the block-just a top end job. Thanks in advance

I'd make sure all the oil lines that went in the crankcase were in there.
Then I'd check to see if the big end of the rods would go through the cylinder bores-they won't on some MM engines. If they won't you'll have to install the pistons before you put the blocks on.
You have to have the water tube and O-rings between the blocks, so they both have to go on together. the same is true with the heads.
Be sure to torque the block mounting bolts before you install the cam.
The manifold bolts on snug before you tighten the head bolts so it'll align the heads.
This is not everything, just what I can remember.

You were right Rods look to big to go down through the cyl.
