I see alot of names on here over and over, and i'm wonder who are these guys?...and why havent I took the time to meet them yet?...I'll tell you about myself...I'm Joshua Ratliff,I'm 24 and I run our small family farm(435 acres) in a little town called Shelbina here in Northeast Missouri...I farm with older machinery...my main field tractor is a 1964 model 4020 John Deere...and I run JD model 95 and 105 combines....and this may sound like A.A. or somthing but i'm addicted to MM pull type plows....as well as other pieces..and I have several old MM tractors...R's, ZTU's, UB's, and a ZAE. as well as several other antique farm tractors...and all the ones that run, get used on the farm regularly!....hope to meet some of you other guys!

Hey, y'all
I'm Tim Hall, 47, from Richlands, NC. Thats in SE NC, about 20 miles off the ocean...tobacco, cotton, and peanut country, although we're growing houses and trailers faster than crops. I'm a Regional Agronomist (CCA, CPAg) with the NC Dept of Ag and cover five counties in the SE part of the state. Grew up on Grandad's farm with a JD G, Case VAC, Ford 601, and Farmall C. Those are gone now but I just got a MM BG 1 row...a toy for an overgrown boy! You'll probably get a lot of questions from me...MMs are rare in this part of the country. Thanks everyone!

Hello,

I am from central Kansas but own a farm in central Nebraska. I am soon to be selling the Nebr. farm and buying one closer to home.
I currently have a 1948 ZTU and a 1956 760 Balor.
In the past I have owned a MM 12 foot grain drill.
I also own an Oliver Super 88 and a Massey Harris 44 special. I am going to buy a MM U in the next few weeks and have spotted a ZAU and a ZBU that need some work (understatement).

I grew up farming and still do farm with my old stuff. I am a professional musician by trade and collect Studebakers, I have quite a few farm trucks, pickup trucks and cars from 1947 to 1964.

I perform an average of 4 times per week all year around and travel an average of 1,500 miles per week (in Studebakers) so I spend alot of time with a wrench in my hand.

I grow alfalfa and wild hay and put it up the old way, mowing with a 7 foot sickle mower (Massey Harris #6) raking with an IHC side delivery rake and baling with my Minneapolis Moline baler.

I have most of my grandfathers and some of my great grandfathers implements, so I have a good collection of horse drawn machines from the early 1900's.

I got out of farming for about 10 years and am now getting back in full swing. (Am I crazy???)
I appreciate all who contribute to this forum as they are the best!

Howdy. I am fairly new to the MM market. I bought my first MM from Aaron Cochran in Illinois. It is a 1967 G1000. And it is still my favorite. I now have the G1000, 1968 M670, and am in the market for a 2 star crawler. I have always liked them and think I should have one if the price is right. I bought the 670 from Burt Graves in Indiana. It needs some work still, but that work goes a lot faster with the help of this message board!

I live in southern Minnesota and farm full time 1000 acres with my brother. I like the older stuff. Have a 1916 Mpls steam engine that I run at the local show. Working on Mpls 17-30 B. Also have Twin City 27-44,21-32,17-28,12-20, MTA, J. MMs include R, Z, ZA, ZB, U, GTB, GTC, GB, GVI, M602, M670 Super, G955, G1355, A4T-1600. All MMs used on farm some. Also have MM Uni Tractor model L & Unipicker, used it this fall on 6 acres that I planted with MP 4 row planter mounted on '51 U. Have A-2 Sheller, 3 Mpls threshing machines in good working condition, 8' swather, 12' MM 100 SP swather, Jr. combine, several plows, 4 grain drills.

I am from Upper Michigan , I am 30 and am doing some small farming on 40 acres. I dont currently have a MM tractor, but I have had them in the past and am looking at buying a UTIL now. I use all older stuff , none of my tractors are newer then 1955. I use all older equipment as well. Someone mentioned old MM plows,,I have one that is a old 2 bottom pull plow, big heavy thing, but it is missing its points, anyone need parts? Jim

Greetings! My name is Dennis Pinkley & I live in NW Arkansas. While I don't activily farm, I was raised on a dairy operation. My first restoration was a '37 ZTU that was from the ground up. I then landed a '46 UTU that I have been tinkering with & just needs painted now. I also have a '37 ZTU, a '52 UB, a '47 Oliver 70, a '49 8N Ford (which was my Dad's) & a McCormick-Deering W-30. Everything was put on hold while I moved, but now that's over with & my shop is completed, the W-30 is going to get an engine rebuild. I do enjoy this group & have learned a lot from everyones input. Hello from Canada! My name is Gary Brown. I am 45 yrs old. I am located in Melita,Manitoba.(about 18 miles north of border) I live on the family farm and part time farm. I am an electronics technician and have my own business specializing in satellite We grew up using MM tractors. We uses U diesel for years and replaced with M5.

I still farm with 2270 White and others. I have 35 plus MM tractors with R-cab, UTC.UTE,2-U diesel specials to name a few. Most are running condition waiting for paint!

I live in Northfield, MN - about 35 miles from the Mpls/St Paul metro area. My Grandfather and Dad farmed with Moline and Twin City tractors. I still have the 1952 UTU that Grandpa bought new. I currently have the UTU and a 1951 UTE that I am in the process of restoring. I also have a D sheller, a 1 row picker, a 4 row planter, a UO disk, a TFA field cultivator, and a lot of manuals.

I am also the President of the Rice County Steam & Gas Engines club located in Dundas, MN. We host 2 shows each year over Memorial weekend and Labor Day weekend.

When I'm not up to my elbows in grease, rust, and prairie gold paint, I am a Transportation Manager for a foodservice distribution company in Eagan, MN.

I live south of Howard at Sunray Texas
I work for a chemical company taking care of the oil patch and refinerys
I had some MM's but my dad took them up to Missouri with him.
We only had red and orange tractors when i was on the farm.Now he has a 43 z, 49 z, ut,Jet star three super, 335, f20, wc, 1951 H farmall he bought new and a u602 diesel .
I like to get the old "junk " and make it run again

I am from central Indiana. I started collecting MM's in about '88 or '89 when I was in High School. I started with an RTU that my Granfather had bought sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. I now have a ZBU, a JT w/ RE conversion, and a Mocraft 107. My wife has a UTU, and my son has a BG. I am still looking for the perfect tractor for my daughter, but Mommy keeps saying no whenever I find a good candidate. I do a little "stock" pulling. Low gear, stock RPM.

In addition to the tractors I also have 3 2btm plows, a 3 btm, and an 8' WPH that all are basically field ready. I also have two 4btm pipe frame plows that are complete, but rough. Also have a D sheller that is a little rough too, as well as a couple of parts carcassas.

I don't know who said it, but I agree that the MM people are some of the best. I have met several of the guys that have posted further down, and look forward to the day when I can meet the rest of you.

I'm from Hilbert WI about 28 miles south of Green Bay. My Dad farmed with Molines.A Bale-O-Matic,Uni-Harvester and Model U tractor and MM grain Drill.I collect Moline Literature,Toy tractors,and have some of the real things,1934 KTA,1945 ZTU,1951 RTU and the following Horse-Drawn Equipment,6 ft.seeder,Flying Dutchman corn planter and a sulky cultivator.

Hello Everyone:
Well I'm more than likely the oldest of the group of Moline collectors or hobbyist on line. I will be 62 on 12/31/03. Retired from management at 59 1/2. I have done a little bit of everything in life as they call me a jack of all trades and a master of none. I live in northeast Iowa. I have been on-line since 1994, just about before there was a line to be on. When I first went on, there was very little info to be found. How times have changed. I used to pull antique tractors, but now I just ride through the country with my binoculars in the fall and spring and try and save some tractors lives by buying them and getting them running again. Then I sell them to a lucky person after they are painted and look good. I am about out right now as I only have one tractor left in my shop. A 1960 GTB. This one is getting new rings and bearings, plus everything else that comes along as I go. I have a collctor in Wisconsin that is interested in this one when it is done next spring. He bought a UTU from me this last fall. I posted that tractor on picture page. I also pulled it a couple of times to see how it ran. Run good. Sold an "H" Farmall with loader to local guy to clean his driveway this fall. Sold my "M" Farmall puller in the spring and it went to Kansas. I have a couple of tractors presently spotted out in a farmers field. I'll just have to stop and see if they can be bought. Looks like a "UTU" and a Ford 8N with 4 bad tires as the bottom of the rear rims are down in the ground. I'm sure the "U" is froze up. Catch everyone later.---deadeye

I live in central Ky and teach machine tool at a nearby tech center. I also take care of the family farm and collect Molines and Farmall's. My collection consist of the following,UB Special,670 super,GB,GTB,RTU,ZTU and soon a Jetstar 3 super. I also have a super H, super M and a 140. I pull the GB moline it has a 605 power unit engine and is very strong.

My name is Brian Gonyea and I live in South Rockwood, Michigan which is in the far SE corner of the state on the shores of Lake Erie. I'm an automotive manufacturing engineer by trade but still live on the 200 acre family farm. My brother and I are both in our early 30s and both enjoy collecting tractors. Our first tractor was a 1949 RTU that we bought about 10 years ago. That tractor and the luck of finding my grandfather's 1949 UTU is what got us addicted to Molines. We currently have over 65 tractors with 50 or so being Molines. Some of the highlights include: G1050, G950, Vista, 66 G1000 RC & Wht, G707LP, G705, GVI FWD, GBD, 3-M670, M5, 5Star, 4Star, 445 Ottawa Backhoe, 445 Skytrak Brickbuggy, Motrac Crawler, U302, JS3 Super, UBD Spec, UBED, ZBU, ZBE, ZAS, ZTS Waterloo, RTE, RTIM, 3-RTI, RTN, 2-RTS Waterloos, several RTU, 2 Unis, 760 Baler, 3 & 4 bottom trailer plows, 3pt 3 bottom plow, 2-WPH wheatland plows, 108 & 112 mowers. Non Moline highlights include: MF97, MF98, AC B, Case 500, Cockshutt 30 & 40, Ford 541 Offset, 4000 RC & 1841 Ind Backhoe, IH 660 & TD6, JD D, MH55, OL-HP 70 on steel, OL 88, Sheppard SD-3 and Waterloo Bronco. The tractors in our collection have come from MI, OH, IN, IL, WI, MN, NE and Ontario, Canada. We've met only the nicest people in our travels and that's probably the #1 reason why we enjoy this hobby so much. We're trying to complete one restoration a year but figure we'll have plenty to keep us busy well into retirement. We also collect manuals for every piece of equipment we own and I have an extensive farm toy collection of mostly Ford and MM pieces. We're planning to go to the Franceville, IN Prairie Gold Rush Winter Convention so hope to see some of you there.

Ours is complete except for the brass plaques on the right fender. It does not have a starting crank either. Could you modify a standard hand crank to be representitive? I didn't realize they were any different than the RTS or RTI cranks.

Hi -

I'm Howard Henderson and live in the top of the Texas Panhandle.

I got started collecting old iron with JD's, but have rebuilt and operated so many MM stationary engines for irrigation on the farm, that I've become hooked on anything MM.

Farming got thinner and thinner over the past 15 years, so I finally got out and just work with computers now, but it is sure fun getting the kids out to Dad's farm and working with the old tractors.

I've got quite a few stationary engines, several MM implements, some GB's, a G, several Z's, several U's, a few Twin Cities, a MM Austin Western street sweeper, a GVI diesel with front wheel assist, and a G-706.

I'd a lot rather be getting dusty and greasy cutting wheat or planting something under a bright blue Texas sky than trying to fight some network problem with a poorly written tech support manual off some Korean website, but times are a changin...

At least I got to know the difference - my kids aren't going to know a world without cell phones and websites...

Hello all, My name is Mark Damewood from Spingfield, Ohio 40 years old. My dad and I have been collecting/restoring tractors for many years. Right now we have 3 MM's a 193? JTU, 1937 ZTU and a 1953 RTIM. As for other makes we have a 1918 9-18B Case cross motor, 1919 8-16 International, 1926 15-25 Rumley Oilpull with matching 1926 Rumley theshing machine, 1930 CC case. 1938 CC Case, 1936 RC Case, 1951 DC Case, 46 John Deere AR plus a 1/2 scale model of a 18-36 cross motor Huber my dad made me when I was a kid. I'm an Engineer by trade, my dad is retired from International Harvester. We enjoy showing our tractors all over the cental Ohio area. As for other hobbies I crew chief/engine builder/gopher for a single engine economy modified pulling tractor in and around the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana area. My dad repairs magnetos. Its good to here what all you other guys do and where your from.

I have (2) M504's a M604, U304, G900 FWA, G1000 Vista FWA, G708 LP, 2 Star Crawler, and 1/2 of a 335 Universal. I am 1/2 owner of 1000 acre cash crop farm. Hi, I'm Kelvin Shaver I live in Central NC about 40 miles East of Charlotte. I'm a Warehouse Manager/Barcode Printer Repairman/Custodian/Delivery Driver/etc. at the small company where I work.
I grew up on a MM ZBU and a Farmall cub, both of which are still on the 20 acre 'farm' and they still earn their keep. My parents are hobby farmers with donkeys and goats and chickens and they raise a big garden each year. I'm 38 now and have been collecting MM since 1992 when I bought a 1949 UTS. The first tractor I restored, however was a 1938 ZTU with mounted cultivators. Over the years I've fixed several letter series MMs-although many still haven't seen paint, and I finally got the '49 UTS painted last spring. I guess my greatest satisfaction with this hobby, other than the people, is taking something that should be junk and fixing it to be useful again.

Hello I am Danny Hearl. I live about 70 miles north of Charlotte NC at Lowgap. There are no big farms here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, but I have a MM 335 that I have brought back from a box and pickup bed. I still have to paint it but it mowes the yard now with a finish mower. I am self employed as a air conditioning and heating contractor. We bought the 335 used in 1972 from a man from Maryland for $600.00. It served a good life until some kid vandalized it in the field. He broke lights,Insturment panel,gas lever off,cut both rear tires, and broke muffler off manifold. The tractor set and got water in the engine, locking it up. I drove out the pistons with a sledge hammer and wooden block,had the heads redone,block bored out and replaced about everthing else. I got more than $600.00 in it now but I can't stop yet. About forgot I am 56 now and love it here.

Hello I am Keith Giffin from Xenia, Ohio. I grew up in a small farming community and work on a farm until I got out of school. Then worked for a local machinery dealership, my fathers painting business,and currently a Firefighter for Xenia. I have always like machinery and started collecting gas engines 4 or 5 years ago and moved up to tractors this past year. Currently we have 8 tractors most 3 R's, 1 ZB, 1 UTC, 1 ZTU, 1 Massey Harris 30, and 1 WC Allis Chalmers. Most are in running condition but currently all wearing their work clothes. We have really enjoyed the mechanical restoration and will eventually get them all looking good. We also have a 3 bottom Moline plow in the collection. Great to see where everyone is from. Keith

Hey. My name is Aron Cochran, I live on my family farm in central Illinois. Until about 1980 there were mostly MM tractors on our farm. I started collecting MM tractors around 1997, I have bought and sold quite a few since then. I am the proud owner of eight MM tractors, and the not-so-proud owner of a few red ones... I have a degree in Ag Business, and I am now going back to college to work on an mba degree. I have had the priveledge of meeting a few of you guys at some MM shows and swap meets. And I have done some buying and trading with a few of the Illinois collectors.

I don't get in to this area much I sold the MM-R I had a few years ago. I also live in Missouri down at the lake Camdenton. I have 44 acre of land that I hobby farm,I was told by a teacher that I would never have a farm lol.
I have 8 complete tractors 1 JD,2 Farmalls, 2 Fords,2 Olivers and an Allis. My name is Rich and I'm retired, D.A.V. almost 48 years old.
I justed ordered the last part I should need to get my 1935 JD-B running again. Ive worked on engines since I was 7 and my dad gave me the old lawn mower and have worked on all sorts of other things ever since from lawn mowers all the way up to 18 wheelers

Hi Josh. My name is Ethan Berry. I'm 25 years old. I live in Vermontville, MI. Currently I have a R, U, ZT, 112 Hydro, GBD, UBD, and Jet Star. I like to buy good deals and use some parts and sell others. I tractor pull now and then locally. Dad (Dale) lives a couple miles away with a U, UB, M5, and Jet Star II. In the last year or two I've sold 2UBDs, UBD Special, 44 Massey, UTU, UTS, 5 star, Uni-Harvestor, RT, and I think that covers it. There's a MH44-6 and JD H hanging around too. Just like to play with as many as I can before I die, but I am limited on my 1.5 acres. Good to hear from you Josh. Always trying to keep communicating with as many MM guys as possible.

Hi , I've lived in Franklin, Pa all my life . Am 58 , grew up in a very large family just outside the city ; we had no land to garden but my dad leased other farm land for our crops . We ate what we harvested ourselves . Dad had one Massey Pony until he rolled it & then he bought new Fords every couple years . I started driving in the fields when I was around 7 or 8 yrs.old . We usually planted acres of sweet corn & potatoes , plus smaller patches of table veggies so Mom could can , if they made it that far . We planted , weeded , hilled & picked it all by hand too , so work I knew well . I'm now unable to work & am trying to survive on SS disability , have a 1956 Ford 640 that I restored ,& am slowly restoring ( as health & money allows ) a 1952 8n with a Funk conversion 6 cyl OHV engine in it .Take care & God Bless , Ken

Well I don't get on here much but your so close thought i would. I live in Kirksville Mo. Work as an electrician, nostly residential. I don,t actively farm an more have cattle out on shares as We sold our land in 94. Now that I don't farm I can afford to play with the Minnies some. Have 3 kids so still limited budget. Have a Jet3 super 68, a 47 U that I'm rebuilding from ground up and my wife bought an RTU I think a 46 or 47 that was stuck. I like to play with tillage equipment have an AF plow tht I have repainted a KA disc an M1400 Just bought a M1300 that I've got to go get and also have to my wife horror a growing salvage yard ZA and Z combination tractor a UB An AF plow 48 U rear end and a 602 wide front( intend to buy the rest of an M5 or 602 to put that on just haven't got that done yet.

Have to go to MM shows, get the Corresponder and Prairie Gold newsletters. Go to MM home site to find the links. I have met some fellas in Ohio area, with a local breakfast meeting in say a Bob Evans' restaurant, then went to one local guys "farm" to see his shop and tractors. Was about 6 of us and some wives came too. Kinda fun! Lots of the big MM shows are in Iowa or Minn it seems. There is a winter show and summer show for each club mentioned above, check the sites to find info. You can only go to so many shows a year, can't get to them all!

I'm David Hopkins in Augusta GA. I grew up on a hog farm about an hour from here in Washington GA. I am 29 and have been collecting tractors since I was about 12. I have 14 of all different colors. I really have no favorites but I do like stuff that is odd. My family has been tractor pulling nearly all of my life, so I started the antique thing a few years ago. It is addictive. I guess I'm the only one in the deep south.

Hey David, your not the only one in the deep south, I'm in Newberry, Fl. just west of Gainesville, Fl. My family has a farm in Michigan and they collect and use Moline tractors for a few generations now and I have started restoring them and bringing a few down to florida. I currently have a MM670,4-Star and a 445. The 445 is still on the farm in Michigan until I can get up there to fix it up and bring it back down to florida. Happy Holidays to everyone. Allan

Hi all-I am in Globe AZ and have been for over 30 years. Looks like I am the old man of the bunch so far. Grew up in south MO. on a farm but have been in AZ since '61. Have an RTI set up for military (not an RTM) and a single front wheel Z.
Kind of grew up with a red nose Z,was cultivating corn with it by the time I was 9-could handle it because it had the old power lift-wasn't big enough in the britches to handle hand lift equipment. Jack

I am in SE arizona in the Gila (Heela)Valley and work for ADOT as an Eq Repair Tech. Been wrenching full time for the last 22 years. Came out of SE Mt. where I grew up on a diversified operation; grain, hay and cattle. This is irrigated cotton,hay and grain country.

We live on a 125 acre farm just a couple miles east of I77, 1 exit south of New Philadelphia, OH. I write software and build/repair computers for a living. We use most all of our MM's that run for something or another. We plant soybeans, corn, oats, wheat, rye & make some hay. We use our 2155 (G-1350) for our main tillage, plant with a 5 star or 2-105 White. Mow, bale & load manure with the Jet Star 3 Super, Rake with 335 Universal, pull wagons, spread manure & cultivate with the 4 Star Super, and run the auger with the R. We have our M670 Super and G1000 w/800 both almost ready to take on some of the chores. We use our 335 backhoe/loader to clean ditches, remove trees & brush & dug out our basement on our remodling project. We also have a UB w/403 and a Gvi w/531 gas that we pull sometimes as well as aother 335 Universal that is getting ready to pull too. We get the Big Mo 400M out once or twice a year to get to the MM drill or just to run it. We still have the LA Uni with the sheller on it that I used to use but it isn't in very good shape any more. We use a JD 105 & a 45. Have a couple of 95's to make one from to replace the 45 but haven't got that done yet. We took some of ours MM's to the MM convention at Dover when it was held there a couple years ago. Don't seem to get around to making them pretty, just functional. I worked for an MM dealer when I was a kid & still like the MM's.

Josh, I'm 1/4 mile from Wisconsin in Illinois, 14 miles from Lake Michigan. I use everything I have that runs, on 16 acres, hardly ever have to unhook to do another field operation. Use a '50 UTS LP, JTU/ZA engine, '38 ZTU, '48 RTI, '59 4 STAR, '58 335, '62 Jetstar, working on '49 GTB LP to get into the "bigtime" operation. Have 2 to 5 bottom MM plows and all MM implements except the MF 12 baler and TO 35 tractor which belonged to my Grandfather. We do Indian Corn, field corn, hay, oats, etc. If you or anyone is comming to the MM Winter Show, let me know in advance, and I'll try to be here. I'll be at the show selling raffle tkts on a MM/Avery V. John

I just bought a home with 7 acre about a mile from where my grandfather grew up. The place has about 5 tillable acres I'ld like to plant. Purchased a 1960 M5 gas this summer, and am still looking for some impliments, disk, plow, brush hog, planter.

I am in Avon, Indiana. My brother Jeff and I have 4 Moline tractors, an Oliver and 2 Fords. We are both 36 (twins). We don't farm any. Jeff has 5 acres we do some hay on for the couple of horses he has. We did grow up on a farm. Mom and dad sold it in 1990 after 20 years of farming. We had John Deere and IH equipment on the farm. Wish we had kept the two tractors.. At the time of the auction 1983? We were just in high school and collecting antique tractors was not in the picture.

Both of us still get our hands in on farming. We help a gentleman with planting and harvesting of about 3400-3500 acres each year.

Our "collection" is composed of a 1948 UTU, 1949 ZAU, 1953 RTI, a 1966 JetStar 3 Super. The Oliver is a 1962 1800 gas. We have a Ford 801 Diesel - selecto-speed and a 1948 8N. These tractors get shown in parades and at the local fairs. The Oliver 1800 does the bulk of the work baling and cutting hay. However, when I get the JetStar 3 done, it will get put on the haybine. All of them have been good tractors.
