Hauling a MM GTB - Will car trailer work?

I know the old G's are pretty heavy. Has anybody sucessfully hauled a G with a tandem axle car hauler trailer with #3500 axles. I have hauled U's with no problems , but more concerned about the G. This particular G has no fluid in the tires and no wheel weights, so it is as light as a G can get which would help some on the weight.
Thanks in advance for the feedback.

G thats Heavy; How often will you haul it, how far will you haul it, will you have fully operational trailer braking, how many long hills must you get over, how much towing power does you truck have, how quickly can you stop from 60 mph
with the whole rig when an unintending idiot in front of you puts you in a full binder mode, these were all questions. Get a friend to transport your G or hire an insured tow company.
Good luck G man.

I have and still do haul my 1950 GTB all over the place with my car trailer and never have had any problems with it. The tires on the trailer are an 8 ply 7.00 x 15 and they do an excellent job. I pull the trailer with a f250 super duty. Feel free to email me if you like and we can chat more.

A good response to that is one I was given once : If in doubt , don't chance it . It may end up being an expensive & tragic lesson for you . Play it safe .

I wouldn't haul it with a 7000 lb trailer. The tractor is near 7000# not including fluid or weights. The trailer itself wieghs 2500+ lbs. you are overloading the GVW rating by at least 2500 lbs. 7000lb car haulers usually only have brakes on one axle. The other problem is that human nature tends to think if it worked before it should be fine now and its ok to keep using it. Find yourself a 12000lb trailer or hire someone to haul it. If the it,(12000 lb trailer) has fenders measure the distance between A G may or may not fit between.

I have hauled my GTB on a tandem #3500 axles car hauler. It may depend on what you are pulling it with, but I was using my 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. Although I wasn't completely comfortable with it, it worked out alright until I upgraded to a gooseneck. I pulled it about 45 mph, never in a hurry, up and down hills, without any problems. It can be done, but not on a frequent basis. Hope this helps you.

I wouldn't even consider it if I were you. Even if the trailer itself would handle it the tongue would probably give out. The GTB weighs in around 7000 pounds.

Maybe one short smooth road haul for a one time haul to get it home-providing tires are in top shape. Sure wouldn't want to make a habit of it as you are maxing everything.
