Compression increasers

Good Morning people,What would be the best and
or cheapest way to bring the compression up on a MM 206 engine. I'm putting this enging in a MMR to pull with. Also does anybody have a industral R or just the back axles for sale thank you MOMan

What would be the benefit of using an RTI rearend for pulling? does it have more desirable gear ratios?

The RTI has a shorter axle and axle housing resulting in less weight.

My '48 has a splined axle, takes the cast center, adding much weight, does the RTI trans have different gears? The RTU axles would fit, just my 2 cents. John

Are you running a OHV 206 or a side head Z motor? I have an industrial tranny, but purchased it with the same intentions you have. Deur Implement has a junk RTI in their inventory. I would be interested to hear how your project goes. Mine is nearly complete.

I've seen this engine bored to 3 7/8", just have to have a couple of extra blocks, as it sometimes goes into the waterjacket.

You didn't say, but if you are required to run STOCK RPM, the compression hurts more than helps, as the compression goes up at STOCK rpm, the lugging power of the MM long stroke engine goes down. Can't say I've done this, as I've not put the LP head on my 206+1/8th", Just know I'm competetive with all the Ms & Gs, '39 & older, at our local pull, and EVERYONE cheats some. My J will pull right down to the last rpm in there, and I am in the top 3 or 4, IF there is no driver error, out of 15 to 20. If rpm is not controled, the compression will deffinately help on the HP end.
