I have a 1948 UTU.It has smooth clamshell fenders, just like my gtb and my 1946 ztu.I looked at a 1951 UTU yesterday for aparts tractor. One thing I noticed was that the 1951 had a sweet set of fenders on it.No rust holes ,no dents;however the fenders had raised ribs on them. They were a clamshell style fender identical to my tractor except for the ribs. Are these a later style fender or has someone put an older style fender on this tractor, say off of a pre-1948 UT?

I run a UTU and it is either a 47 or 48. It has the smooth fenders. Also had them on a 49 UTS. Dad's 50 UTU has the ribs. From all I have seen, the older MM Us had the smooth ones. I am unsure of the change date though. Hope this helps. Yours are probably original on your 48 and on the 51.

I agree-both my '49 UTS's have the flat fenders while the '50 UTU and the '54 UTS had the ribbed fenders. The ribbed fenders are just like ZA/ZB fenders, they just use an adapter to mount to the U axle.
