Okay Minnie Mo tractor folks, which tractor is better overall, the Minneapolis U or the Massey Harris 44 and why?

Since I own 6 Moline U's and only 1 MH 44, you
know which one I prefer. Now if you want to get a
real discussion going - lets compare my fathers JD
50 to ANY tractor. Having used the 44 and that
&($#)#*&$ 2 cyld. shaking bucket, I can't imagine
why anyone thinks those 2 cylds. are any good at
all. Trying to back one up to a piece of 3 pt. eq.
is almost impossible. And worse is using it to run
a post hole digger. I have driven 3 miles to get
the 44 just so I wouldn't have to use the JD 50 on
the post hole digger.

I pull molines but use JD's.I agree with you on backing up. But would rather ride my 50 JD than a massey. Its hard to hit the right gear on a 44.Wendel

The Moline is by far the greater tractor. Easy to work on, DEPENDABLE unlike anything Massey ever made, and GOOD LOOKING!

I traded my UTS for a nice 44. The 44 and 33 tranny were the same and no where near the heft of a U. The motor in a U was bigger, stronger, and lugged better. Also easier to get on and off. The 44 is cice to drive and runs nice, but it is more between a MM Z and U size. By the way, I sold my 44. Looking for the next MM to play with. Grandpa has a 44-6. Sounds like an Oliver, but nowhere near the power of a 44 4 cyl or a MM U.

The MM U of course, because it was made in the United States of America! and MM power is hard to beat.
