I'm curious how much h.p. a 585 was availiable with and how much one could "tweak" out of it. Big motor, big potential? I've seen some good pullers.

Turn it up and you will blow it up. Problem comes with not getting enough oil to the mains. Trust me, I have experience with this, as mine blew sky high.

Hi there. I had not heard of this, but I did hear of oil pump problems after long field hours at higher RPMs. Thanks for the tip. I know a friend of mine that built one for pulling and it really cranks, but I think it took some significant tweaking to keep it going good. Curious to hear what folks have done. How many h.p. did yours turn before it blew?

I belive an HD800 crankshaft will fit in a 585 bumping it up to 650 or so. Sounds like an expensive project, but I'd love to see it. Maybe in a GBD with the right pieces. There is a puller called Vista Cruiser running a 585. It really cranks. (Henderson motor)

we're thinking about one in a g1000. not to change subject but you don't have a set of 15.5 deep treads around 40% do you.

Don't know which class you are interested in but I have one converted to alky with aluminum heads if you want to go Super Stock.
