I really stepped in the fire this time, I haul scrap to the recycler, and I have people bring me wild stuff all the time. In this guys barn yard, there is a M&M Model D corn sheller with a hand crank, serial number 38405384. The motor turns over, but the clutch that engages the sheller is froze up (I don't know how bad as I didn't get to play that long with it)The engine has a "Powerful as the nation" badge on both sides of the radiator supports with the words "Red Seal" on the supports as well. The engine had 2 sets of numbers- 1 on the outside edge of the engine badge said 1018, 2- the sn is 162985. It is not new by any means; but it is complete from stem to stern. Any info about this huge piece of machinery would be greatly appreciated. I collect JD's and when i find older pieces like this, I would much rather get some info first before the torch hits it. plus in case any one is interested in it.

Don,
Your model D sheller was made in 1955. The Continental engine is not original and was probably added at a later date so as not to have to hook it to a tractor to run it. Is the sheller in decent condition or all rusted out? I may be interested in it depending on condition. Email me.

Don, Except for sales brochures, I have never seen a D corn sheller with a power unit. I would be interested in seeing how the engines are mounted. I have a D and it looks like there is not much room for mounting an engine,

To be honest I was very surprised. It looks like the front end of a tractor, except where the hood ends, there is a clutch assembly with a hand clutch that converts the power to the sheller.there is no front suspension or tires, the tires are mounted outboard of the clutch area.

There definately should be some interest in it. I sure wish you said what state you were from. It also sounds like it might have a Continental engine. I think they used "Red Seal" advertising on their engines.
