I found an old MM Baler, seems to be in decent shape. I may buy it to bale 2-3000 bales next season. I could get it up to 100% this winter and have it ready to go for spring. I need to hear from anyone who has used one. Are they any good? What are the good/bad points. What about parts? Can a new drive belt be obtained? Teeth?

Thanks for your help.

The baler model is a Bale Master 760. I didn't have that information when I first posted.

I do not own it yet, I am just considering buying it. I don't know the model. Next time I am by the owners farm I will try to find the badge plate. Where is that located on the baler?

The baler isn't real big, is definitely out of the 1950's or early 60's. It is newer than the Bale O Matic, but is still set up quite similar.
It is a twine type, center feed with the center augar being a 3 section type, the right side of the augar pushes the hay left, the left side of the augar pushes the hay right and the center has straight fingers that push the hay straight back into the chamber. The actual hay pickup isn't very wide. PTO driven. I hope my description helps until I get out to see it again.

You might want to put a post in "implement alley" if you haven't already. You'll find various opinions on which make/model is best. My thought is, that a maintained, in time baler will do the job, regardless of the make. Some may require more adjustments to get the result you want, but thats part of doing hay with antique equipment.

I myself use an old New Holland Super 67. I'm not saying that it's better than Moline, as I've never worked with one. I'm just pointing out, that parts are readly available for my make even though my model hasn't been manufactured since the mid fifties.

I'm going to assume, that Moline balers aren't very common these days unlike the green/yellow, red/yellow ones, so I can't say that you'll be able to find everything you may need. However, I bet you can find belts and "teeth" that'll match up to get you going, even if they aren't Moline brand. Get in touch with your local Agco dealer and see what they still stock. Ask about knives and knotters, since they always seem to be the problem on old twine balers.
