What are the differences in seat placement and brake pedal placement between the ZTU and ZAU models?

The first seats they had on the ZA's were the double cushion ones. They had an air bladder or inner tube type cushion in them with 2 pieces of horse hair or mowhair(sp?), one on the bottom and one on the top of the inner tube. There was a zipper in it to air it up. It was a nice cushion, but the hair usually poked holes in the rubber and it would go flat.( That is what my dad told me). In '51 they started using the flote ride seats on them with the shock absorbers. Something else I have found out, about '51 they changed the throttle levers, (rod mounts on throttle on outside instead of inside, making operation opposite, and the brake pedals are about 4-5" taller. I didn't know they had disc brakes on the late ZAS's. Learn something new everyday.

ZTU sat the operator on a steel bar, mounted in a rubber block, directly behind the tractor. The bar did have maybe 2" lift or so. Brake pedals: ZTU had a left brake pedal on the left side of the transmission, Right brake on the right side of the transmission and a "Both pedal on the right and above the 'right' brake pedal. All the pedals were behind the rear axle. My '38 ZTU does not have the 'both' pedal. I think it interfered with mounting the power lift, so was removed.

ZAU All factory seats I have seen had shock absorber mount under seat, somewhat raised from ZTU postion. except bolted in the same hole in the rear of the transmission without the rubber block. Some ZTUs were equipped with an auxiliary platform above the regular ZT-type platform and had corresponding brake pedal extensions to get above this platform.
Both Brake pedals were on the left side of the transmission, behind the axle. There may actually exist some ZAU tractors with both brake pedals on the left. I am aware that very late (53) ZAS tractors with disc brakes and factory installed 'live' pto. had both pedals on the right, still behind the axle. My ZB/ZAS parts book shows this.
As far as I know, The actual seats for either tractor were either the 3-hole pan or the 'deluxe' seat with a back and cushion.

2 blunders after reading my post:
1. It was the ZAU that had the auxiliary platform above the ZT-like platform location.
2.What I meant to say that there may be some ZAU tractors with both brake pedals on the right, if they had factory-installed disk brakes and live pto. All the ZAU's I have seen had the brake pedals on the left.
