I sure do need some MM owners advice

There is a MM tractor on Ebay that I am seriously considering buying. I have never owned a MM in my life, but there is something about this tractor that has really got me interested. The only drawback is that it does not have a 3 point hitch for mowing, box blading, etc. I don't have any idea if it is worth what the bid is at this time or not. But, I am bidding! I looked up some information on the ZTU, but was unable to find any reference prices!! I have emailed the owner, and even though the emails sound reputable, and good, it still doesn't give me a clue if I am bidding on something that is already overpriced.
Any suggestions? I know something about John Deere and Massey Ferguson, but don't have a clue about this make of tractor. HELP!

Any advice on MM and pricing would sure help me on this. I have a gut feeling that it is a good tractor - Fence

The MM Zau has hydraulics..and they work whenever the tractor is running.. At least the later ones do..47 and newer? I cannot remember when they went from the vented side hoods, to the flat side hoods. My 49 ZAU has hydraulics that are "live".

Anyway, I have seen homemade 3 points on them... I made one once for my 48' UTU. Still have it and it works great. However, there is no real "draft control". You have to do that yourself with that set up.. But, they can drag the old time style 3 or 4 wheel pull-type grader blades. You can also adapt a woods belly mower to it as well. You use the cultivator lift arms and cylinder to raise the deck.. and the mower runs off the rear pto.. You just have to get moving for it to work.. at least this way, if you stop.. the mower shuts off. I have seen one set up with a 72" deck.. That was a few years ago up in Minnesota at Balcom Farm Implement Sales. It was a nice set up.

Bottom line is that it's worth whatever you're comfortably willing to part with, to a degree and how bad you want it. Back in the early 70's I paid
$600 for a 1952 MM model Avery V, which ran and purred like a kitten and had been garaged kept and included all of the implements for handling a small farm or decent size garden. By all means, if you get it, keep it housed and out of the elements if at all possible. You'll be glad you did, years down the road. Good luck! I'm in the very beginning stages of tearing mines down to attempt to restore it. You'll love it I'm sure! I also agree that the 2 point hitch is somewhat of a drawback, but I'm sure you'll be able to improvise where it will suit and take care of your needs.

I'm gonna catch "H***" from other fellas for saying this...BUT..to me a tractor w/out a 3pt is pretty worthless, unless you just wanna pull wagons or old-time equipment that is hard to use. And w/out some hydraulics to help lift these old attachments, can be a lot of work just to operate things. Z's and U's were good tractors in their day, but more modern units are much easier to work with if that was your intent. If you're going for box blade, and finish mower/bush-hog use, you should have a 3pt. Then again, the early Tele-flo units are not my favorite either. The late 50's thru 70's tractors are much better for everyday work in my opinion. Far as a "hitchor" attachment, I'm not sure what that even is, and doubt you could find one to put on your tractor. Sorry guys! Well, gotta go get my "Flame Suit" on, so excuse me....!

Buy it. We were given a MM bout 6 months ago, always had IHC before then, and after using it it seems to be the best of the old tractors I have ever seen. Give what ever it takes to get it.

chris is correct some falts might be they do not have a creaper gear aftermarket 3 pth might be hard to come by generly no live power

If you really do want this tractor and would like a three point on it you can add a MM orignal Hitchor to it and adapted it to fit your mower and blade.

I have seen Z molines sell from 600 to 2000 depending on condition. I will tell you this we have 2 Z,s and they are very nice dependable tractors they have a 206 cubic inch engine that is very strong and very easy to work on. Parts are still avalible at a resonable price. Hope this helps Chris
