What color loaders?

Have a Jet Star 3 with brown belly. Have a loader for it and ready to paint the mounting structure. Question....shoull loader be Yellow or Red?? I've seen both in pictures, not sure I like red or not. I once had a 335 with red loader, but it had red wheels to go with it. I have no red on my JS3 now, so thinking maybe the yellow is better. Any opinions?

Hi,

I've seen a JS3 all yellow with a red loader that says Minneapolis-Moline on it, and also has a black bucket. I've also seen an M5 with a off-white loader and off-white painted front wheels. Also i've seen a RTI with a yellow Lull loader, and a ZA with a yellow loader. I've got pictures of that JS3, the M5, and the RTI if you would like them. In my opinion, a JS3 with a brown chassis would look better with a yellow loader to overcome the effect of all of that brown.

Are the JetStar's a good loader tractor?

Have no idea if good loader tractor or not. I don't have reverser or tork, so probly not for me. It's a pain in A to shift and grind during manuevers for sure. I need one to lift and load truck parts and such more than actual dirt duty. I was even thinking of making base mount brown, to blend in with belly and major arms yellow as they would be higher up by hood and front wheels. Might be doing that, I like it. The Heck with what's "correct". Sometimes "correctness" gets in the way or what looks right to me.

We recently purchased a Farmall with a M-M L800 loader on it. The former owner painted it white but there is red paint under it. We have had several in over the years and they were always red. My dad sold M-M's new in the 60's and when he got them in for the farm tractors they were always red with yellow M-M decals. On the industrial tractors they were yellow like the rest of the tractor. You could paint the frame brackets yellow and it would look the same as if it was on a U302 or M670. Dyna brown for this would also look good. One of the hardest things to find is the frame brackets to put on the Jet Star 3 and 3 supers that the loader front support hooks up to. When finished they do make a nice loader tractor. If your tractor doesnt have the torque it will be a nicet loader tractor as it will shift a little easier

I agree with what your saying about correctness. It get's in the way too much, especially when painting a tractor. Grandpa always harasses me for trying to get the tractors to look as good as I can while painting or prepping, even though they never turn out perfect. Then if I harass him for doing something on the tractor that I think isn't right or good enough, he says "it came that way from the factory." LOL

P.S. How did that M670 turn out? Maybe that would make a good loader tractor. Any opinions?

Trev, you and I only guys on here late at night?? Only ones to answer each other's posts it seems! I sold the 670. Only got $1500 for it, but old fella not far from me with MM collection bought it. He brought pictures of his collection, real nice. He and his older Sons are into MM's. No one wanted to fix it, had too many problems for them I guess. Everyone wants a bargain, but if you tried to buy from them, I'm sure it wouldn't be a "good" price later! It was way too big for me and my 1-acre farm anyway. I have my Jet Star 3 going good now, all painted and nice. It wasn't running/sounding right, no power and such, but had two plug wires backwards on distributor. I felt stupid when my Buddy found that. Seems I had the firing order OK, just distributor turns opposite way of what I thought. Sheesh! At least it's a Real tractor now, sounds right, much more power and everything. Working on my Case SC now, got the main frame painted, having small parts blasted and now painting on those. Hope to get some wheels on soon. Nothing more bothersome than a unit you can't move and always in way in shop. Still have my R to go yet. Just bought a Ford 600 COE tilt-cab truck taking my time now too. Might be my tractor hauler with it's 16ft bed. Was a grain truck, I'm taking sides off, like to have short sides and look out the window to see behind me. Need good tall grain sides?
