Jim, I am no toy expert, but there are only 2 "vintage" MM R toys I know of. The first is about midway between 1/16 and 1/32 scale, is made of something like cast aluminum, not terribly well detailed and had a cast-on driver-and I think were originally made by Slick. Later versions-what I remember growing up in the 70's were painted either "red" or "green" and had black wheels. I'm thinking by that time some other company had taken over the mold to manufacture them. I think some of the original tractors were some shade of yellow. Occasionaly one comes up for auction on Ebay that is the correct color, but I can't say if it is a repaint, or not.
The other tractor was made of rubber-like material. It also has a cast-on driver and it is a little large for 1/16 scale, so maybe is 1/12 and all the examples I have ever seen have been red. I think the wheels were black. There are also some identical examples made of cast iron, but I don't know if the rubber model was used as a pattern in a later casting process or not. The cast iron tractor I have has steel wheels with lugs, as far as I know, MM never offered R's with steel wheels.
