Will a 670 torque work in an M5? If it does, does a 670 have a different gear reduction than an M5? Can these be rebuilt? Thanks.

Mine slipped and whinned too and thought I needed to be repaired when I first bought it. BUT, I drained the oil out and put dextronIII in it, and let the engine run about an hour. Drained that out and put new gear lube in and it works great and has for two years now. The lube is supposed to be change every year anyway. I can see why.

An early M670 tork will fit. I don't think the later M670 will work. Yes they can be rebuilt. They can get exspencive, depending on what all is needed.

When I pull it back the torque will sit and whine a little. If I nudge the handle forward it catch's and the tractor pulls. I have adjusted the handle so it has a good snap. What could be wrong internally? A rebuilt one costs ????

Sitting in the seat there is no noticible difference in the driving or operating qualities of either the early or later AT's in these tractors. The difference is the early units had roller and spring clutch and the later had sprague clutches. Yours should be an early style unless someone changed it. The low is out and needs to be repaired, parts are readily available but not in a complete rebuilt assy. If you have questions call 920 295 3278 or email with phone number, Dale
