Hello again everyone,

I was just lucky enough to purchase 3 original grill emblems that came on the R,ZT and Red Faced U series tractors. I have a few questions about them though, Did these emblems come on all of the new tractors? I would think that they were not standard equipment since hardly any of the tractors I've seen in my 21 years had them on, even at the shows. Or was the production of the emblems discontinued at some point in time where certain year tractors could have them, and certain year tractors would not have been availible with them? I also have a more subjective question. What do these emblems in good to excellent shap commonly bring in price? I would just like to see if I got a deal.

The interesting thing is, that the gentleman I bought them from purchased them brand new from an MM dealer in 1953 (I'm guessing they were made years earlier but were not sold until that time.) 2 of the 3 were never put on tractors and kept in a shoebox. They don't have even 1 scratch in the red paint and still shine like mirrors.

Real neat find. I believe these were used only from 1938 till 1942. The "war" tractors were bare bones - no extras. They were not used after the war. I also believe they were standard on all tractors during that 4 years.

I don't think any of the R's had them, but I'll have to check my parts book. If they were held on the way the reproduction attaches to my ZTU, most probably rusted the rivets out and fell off.

It looks to me that these emblems are attached to the grill by bending down 2 thin metal flaps that are attached to the back of the emblem. I gather this because the flaps on the 2 emblems that were never on tractors stick out at perfect right angles to the back of the emblem. no kinks or bends of any kind. The other emblem that was on a tractor at one time has flaps that are a bit bent. It looks like someone tried to pry it off of the grill from the front, instead of taking the grill out and bending the flaps up properly. Are reproductions of these still being produced? If or if not, how much do/did they cost?
